The first step to getting this wedding rolling was to pick a venue. From there we would be able to compromise on a date. Adam was actually so eager to nail down a date that he was the first one to start looking up venues. This guy really, really wants to marry me. We did some preliminary searches online to create a list of possible venues. We took into consideration the location and drive time for guests, budget, and what our possible wedding theme would be and if that venue would flow well with that theme. We ended up only having about three venues that we wanted to look at in person and a back up venue if none of the others really thrilled us.
The following weekend my family and I went to view the different venues. The location we went to look at, Loft 212, is located in Cullman. I really did not expect to like it as much because I wasn't sure that it was going to flow well with my theme but the prices listed online were very reasonable so we decided to go ahead and view it anyway.
Once we arrived and started to view the space, I realized, BOY WAS I WRONG! I absolutely fell in love with the venue. The space had beautiful lights and fabric flowing throughout the ceiling rafters, large windows that let in a warm natural light, the floors are gorgeous old hardwoods and everything about the area was amazing. The owner was so nice and accommodating as well. The more we discussed with the owner about the space, the more I realized that they have thought of everything to make your big day flawless!
From the bridal suite having an exit door away from the guests so they don't see the bride before the wedding to heating/cooling the space to the perfect temperature just five minutes prior to the ceremony then turning it off so a loud heater/AC unit isn't cutting on in the middle of the vows; they have thought of everything. It was evident that they have done several weddings and events and have thought about all those small details that I never would have thought about. Any question we had and Lord knows my mother had a notepad full of questions, they answered for us. Loft 212 also offers a wedding coordinator that knows the space like the back of her hand to ensure that your day goes off without a hitch. I had so much comfort in knowing that if I had my wedding here, everything would be taken care of and my day would be perfect.
Although we loved the first venue, it was only the first one that we looked at and we knew we had to view a few more before we could make a final decision. For the remainder of the afternoon we visited two additional venues, but all day nothing seemed to compare to "the feeling" we all got at Loft 212.
One venue was ok, but seemed a bit like a rubber stamp wedding location. Every wedding there was exactly the same with little room to customize it to be your own, not to mention the owner seemed very unprofessional and unenthused that we were there. Within five minutes of being there I felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave; definitely not the feeling you want to have for the place you are going to get married in. The last place we looked at was an adorable dual barn venue with an inside and an outside option. It was very pretty and would be a beautiful location for a wedding or even a bridal shower. However, it was a bit far for my guests and I still kept thinking about Loft 212.
At the end of the day, my family and I sat down and hashed out the pros and cons for each venue. It was pretty easy and totally a unanimous decision. We all wanted the Loft 212. So, I can now officially say that I have a venue and a date nailed down!!! Whoo-hoo!!! Check that off the list. Now on to the next step, vendors...
