CHELSEA & ADAM
I am excited to say that this engagement has been exactly what I always thought being engaged should feel like. Without getting into too many details, I was engaged once before. It never felt right. I was never excited about being engaged. The proposal was hardly a proposal at all and I never felt that giddy, happy, anticipation that you always imagine feeling.
This engagement, however, has been all those things and more. He did all the things I wanted in a proposal. He asked my parents, he made it a complete surprise, he got down on one knee, and we celebrated with my family afterwards. I am now so excited and ready to start planning, not only a wedding but the rest of my life with this man.
Since the proposal, December 23, 2016, I have experienced all the excitement of telling friends, family and co-workers. However, it's funny to me that everyone's first question is "When's the date?" The date? Are you serious? Am I suppose to know that already? I just got engaged! I'm still getting use to this beautiful shiny rock on my hand and trying not to stare at it all day long. I sure haven't picked a date yet!
So now I feel the pressure of getting the ball rolling with wedding plans, which I am both excited about and also a little overwhelmed with. I also have people coming out of the woodworks wanting to be my bridesmaids...like I haven't talked to you in months or years, why do you suddenly want to be a bridesmaids? I also have the pressure of not wanting to hurt anyone's feelings but also not wanting 52 bridesmaids in my wedding.
Adam and I agree that we want to be married within the next year, 2017. We really needed a preliminary date for the wedding so that we could get somethings in motion. Adam has thrown out the date October 28, 2017. What he doesn't get is that it is hard to set a date in stone until we know what he venues have available. I set up some appointments to view a few places next week with my mother and my aunt. I really feel that once we have a venue and date nailed down, I will be able to move forward with all the other fun and exciting things like colors, dresses, showers, etc.
More to come.
