On October 7, 2017, Parker and Bert vowed to love, honor and cherish one another for life, in a ceremony filled with hope, promise and love. Here's the beginning of their love story!
Parker and Bert met in high school. Even though the two grew up in the same area and attended the same schools, it wasn't until high school that they connected. Parker was a member of the cheerleading squad and Bert played basketball. Bert was a year older than Parker and Bert quest for Parker's attention came when he became a teacher's aide in her math class. With no success during that time at getting her attention, Bert was determined to "never give up."
Two years later, following graduation and presented with a great opportunity being it was Parker's birthday, Bert made his move and his determination paid off. According to Parker, "he definitely stole my heart over time. I didn't make it easy, but he was consistent. That's when I knew he was the one- when I noticed that he was dedicated and determined to pursue me no matter what."
Parker drives the point home by adding, "there's something beautiful about seeing all of the faults in someone, but choosing to love them anyways. And that is what Bert does."
Honestly speaking, Parker conveys, "I think what makes Bert and I work well as a couple is not our similarities. Although we share the same beliefs and have similar character, we have a lot of differences in personality and interests that helps us balance each other out so well, bringing out the best in each other."
That bond is seen in their endeavors as a couple. Their love for new adventures and activities, like being the youngest on their bowling league team, as well as their appreciation for being outside. What's even more endearing is their ability to be spontaneous. Parker recalls one of her fondest moments with Bert occurred "the day we randomly and abruptly decided to take a drive and pick up/buy another Australian Shepherd puppy. We were in the Birmingham Zoo parking lot and just decided to cancel our plans and go on a whim. Totally unplanned and I think that's what made it so much more enjoyable..."
After five years of life together, Bert was prepared to enter a new phase with Parker and propose marriage. However, "after weeks of trying to make plans on different occasions to pop the question and it falling through, Bert couldn't wait anymore and decided to forget the planning and just simply let it happen."
Here's how! "After a normal day and fun dinner date, we pulled into the driveway, when he told me he had something to show me in the front yard. He told me to let the dogs (go) upstairs and once I did to come outside on the front porch. As soon as I opened the front door, he was there on one knee. No, we didn't have a crowd or photographer, ...it was intimate and meaningful. It was so sweet that he just couldn't wait any longer and had to ask."
In a picturesque setting at Hamilton Place at Pursell Farms, in a well planned out classy event with "pops of gold and deep fall colors", Parker and Bert said "I Do" surrounded by all of their favorite people. We are thrilled to say that they are "looking forward to just starting our new lives together to see what is next for us and just making joint decisions on all kinds of things!" Together!
