Meredith Elyse Willibey Howard and Daniel Curtis Howard
After I DO! first feature story is the union of Meredith Willibey and Daniel Howard and oh my, it's a good one. Funny story, at the time Meredith and Daniel met, December of 2013, Meredith was actually dating someone else who introduced her to Daniel. Although a love connection was not made at this time, for obvious reasons, a chance encounter in late March 2014, at the library, was the beginning of their love story.
Meredith admits, "strong feelings for Daniel developed right away but I kept them hidden because I didn't want him thinking I was crazy or something." Reflecting on that time, she adds, "it's crazy how you can know someone is "the one" but hold off as hard as you can on loving them fully." Well, try as she might, Meredith fell and fell hard for Daniel. "Daniel is unlike any other guy that I have ever dated. The way he treats me, talks to me, listens to me, looks at me, speaks of me just leaves me speechless and full of butterflies to this day."
Her feelings for Daniel only became stronger when the two of them went to visit Daniel's family in Huntsville in July 2014. Meredith's first time meeting his parents afforded her the opportunity to see him interact with his family and solidified her love for him. Although she admits developing strong feelings for Daniel right away, it was Daniel who uttered "I love you" first.
The proposal came on March 16, 2016 on top of the City Federal Building in downtown Birmingham. Having a feeling that Daniel was planning to propose, Meredith admits she had "no idea that it was happening when it did." After a dinner date that included Taco Mama in Homewood, Meredith noticed Daniel was rushing her to finish her drinks so that they could leave. The plans were to go to Insomnia Cookies and get desert and a Redbox movie for later.
Daniel's lure was a friend who called and wanted their advice on a party he was planning. This was not unusual because the same friend does host amazing parties and had recently thrown a Super Bowl party at the City Federal Building on the Penthouse floor a few weeks prior. Meredith felt honored that their advice was being sought. "While we were going up the elevator, I noticed Dan sweating and thought, what a weirdo."
Upon arriving at the top, the only lights on were large bulb Christmas lights that were left from the Super Bowl party a few weeks prior. Needing to get to the terrace, "the only way out onto the patio was by crawling out a very big window. When I say crawl, I use the term loosely", Meredith adds. She continues, " I sat on the windowsill and threw my legs over. Little did I know that one of the light bulbs was very close to my legs and when I sat down, I sat on it." Crushing the bulb and in turn, causing all the other lights to go dark. Needless to say, this wasn't going according to plans.
However, Daniel and all the parties assisting with the proposal continued on and Meredith still was unaware. Meredith proceed out onto the patio that encircles the top of the building; FINALLY, Daniel was able to kneel down and utter "Meredith, will you marry me?" According to Meredith, "it doesn't sound like much but man did it make me weak in the knees and my heart melt!" Meredith, it sounds like music to our ears.
On March 4, 2017, in Hoover at Park Crest Event Facility Carriage House, in front of a crowd of 220 family members and friends, Daniel and Meredith officially became husband and wife, ending one chapter and beginning a new one. Wearing a Martina Liana gown purchased in Atlanta, Georgia, Meredith looked stunning befitting a rustic chic wedding with the perfect combination of natural, earthy and elegant.
