They seemingly were on the same wavelength from the beginning. A party their junior year of high school was the backdrop for these two to meet. After the party, both Lucy and Jim asked a mutual friend who the other one was and Jim took the step to get Lucy's number from this friend. Starting them on a path of an eight year courtship filled with traveling, movie watching, and trying new places to eat.
Although, Jim was the first to utter the words "I Love You", Luci shares that she actually decided going into college she was going to marry Jim. "I knew there was no point to continue the relationship long distance (he went to Auburn/I went to Samford) if I didn't see marriage in our future", Luci adds.
She also shares her one special thing about Jim is know that "no matter what, he will always do the right thing. No one is more honest than him. He is fair, honest, and forthcoming." Admittedly, Lucy reports, "this does annoy me at times because the right thing isn't always in my favor or adheres to my viewpoint in some circumstances." We understand!
Jim asked for Lucy's hand in marriage on January 2, 2016 at the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. "He had a photographer hiding in the bushes. It was so great and I was not expecting it. My parents threw a party afterwards at an AirBnB in downtown Nashville. All of our friends and family were there." Sounds perfect!
Although they dreamed of eloping to Italy, Lucy and Jim decided that for their elegant and modern themed wedding, it would be best to have all of their nearest and dearest share in their moment. "Alys Beach was the perfect exotic and intimate feel we were looking for while being close to home."
So, on November 19, 2016, with 100 of their favorite people surrounding them, Lucy and Jim said "I DO" at Alys Beach. Lucy looked stunning in a custom Rosa Clara gown and veil. She recalls two of her most memorable moments from their wedding day. The first occurred while "sitting with my dad in one of the houses we rented in Alys Beach...waiting for the coordinators to pick us up to walk down the aisle was nothing short of magical. I started to worry about walking down the aisle and he said, "don't worry, you are ready".
Lucy second memorable moment was one she shared with Jim, of course. "I also loved eating with Jim just the two of us after the cocktail hour. Lucy and Jim's reception was held at The Pearl Hotel in Rosemary Beach, Florida where two guitar players serenade the guest for the cocktail hour and a Motown band played the night away for dinner. The couple honeymooned in St. Lucia at Sugar Beach and are currently living in Birmingham, Alabama.
