They met at a friend's house party in Auburn, Alabama. Their love for one another grew with the passing of time. Simple moments like laying on a couch and "being silly" with one another surprisingly and perhaps, unintentionally, allowed them, meaning him, an opportunity to verbalize that love. Ryan and Alison (Allie) Johnson were discovering their lives are better spent together than apart.
Allie said, when reflecting on how she determined Ryan was the one. "I just knew. I had never felt the way I did before when I was with Ryan. He became my best friend and I always wanted to be with him." That friendship is reflected in their shared love of Auburn football, Atlanta Braves baseball, watching their favorite shows, gathering with friends and spending time with their dog, Paisley.
According to Allie, Ryan is "hardworking and driven" and she finds those qualities special and endearing. His ability to be thoughtful and considerate is evident in his surprise proposal to Allie. And yes, she was utterly surprised!
On a family cruise with Allie and her parents, Ryan took the opportunity to insist "on taking a picture in front of this big open window where you could see the ocean and it was actually a good spot for a picture. So, after the first picture, he turned me to him and took my promise ring off my wedding ring finger and said, "This needs to be replaced with something better."
After kneeling down on one knee, he asked Allie to marry him. "I'm ugly crying and just so excited but totally SHOCKED!!! I just remember as he was getting down on one knee I said to him, "Ryan, what are you doing? Ryan, is this real life?" It felt so unreal yet so right and it was the perfect timing."
From a perfect proposal to a perfect wedding day, Allie and Ryan, being celebrated by 180 of their nearest and dearest, exchanged vows of commitment, love and togetherness at the Auburn Marriott Opelika Hotel and Conference Center at Grand National.
Allie fondly recalls one of the most memorable moments of the entire day, their first look. "He didn't want to do a first look. He wanted to be traditional but we are both so glad we ended up doing it because it was such a special moment." A moment between husband and wife.
