Brooke and Caleb met while attending high school. Although they attended different schools, they had mutual friends. At that time, Brooke was smitten with how "incredibly cute" Caleb was, however, she got the impression that Caleb was "apparently too shy to talk to me." Five years later, on July 4th at a friend's lake house, they would meet again. Brooke shares it was love at first sight!
Brooke recalls the first time Caleb uttered the words everyone yearns to hear. "We were on our way back from his dad's house after spending our first Thanksgiving together. We stopped at a stop sign, he said "I LOVE YOU" and the rest is history." That history includes a "fur baby" the couple obtained shortly after they began dating as well as their shared love of the lake and working out.
Their relationship is based in love and a mutual respect. Brooke adds, "it's cliche but they say when you know you know. Like any couple we have had our ups and downs but when you're in a huge crowd of people and it feels like you're the only two people in the whole world, and you feel that feeling every day. To me that's when you know. It doesn't hurt that Brooke feels Caleb is "so incredibly handsome but I've always said his heart is the sexiest thing about him." One blessed guy!
It's heartwarming to know that one of the special thing Brooke loves about Caleb is his "ability to love others." She recounts, "we can be anywhere and it's truly amazing to see someone who enjoys making people feel good. He truly enjoys being kind." That kindness was on full display on a trip to California in December of 2015.
Brooke and Caleb journey to California to visit his step sister Ashley's for her daughter's 1st birthday. This trip would be filled with a lot of excitement and surprises. The excitement began the moment they left the ground. (This was Caleb's first flight!) There was a slight anticipation on Brooke's part that this trip might be "the trip". Brooke recalls, "when we arrived that Thursday night we were driving to dinner and his step sister said she wasn't feeling to well. She thought she wouldn't be able to keep the secret throughout our trip and announced she was pregnant! The next day we find out she had actually gotten the stomach bug and yes, she was still pregnant".
Now thinking the stomach bug was perhaps morning sickness, it was not and yes, Brooke and Caleb did catch the bug. Fast forwarding to Sunday, the final day of the trip, Brooke woke up "giddy", excited for what the day might bring. "Asking everyone" what the plans were for the day and "if I should curl my hair and what I should wear". To Brooke it felt like "literally crickets". Brooke says, "I was not amused." After a quick cry to her mother about how "no one wanting me to curl my hair and get fancied up." Brooke, Caleb and his sister and her daughter visited the set of their film and took a drive to Santa Monica Pier.
"It was a picture perfect sunset. We were at the top of the Ferris Wheel and I said "YES!" Brooke adds, "IT WAS PERFECT!" They were able to cap this adventure off with even more excitement once they returned to Birmingham. "All of our family and friends" were waiting at the airport to greet the newly engaged couple. Can't get any better than that!
The magical day took place on October 1, 2016 and can best be described as a southwest bohemian vibe complemented with bright pops of color, cacti and greenery, and topped off with a few cowhide rugs. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her gown from Alfred Angelo, "it was conservative in the front and open in the back. It was off-white and fitted with a gorgeous lace train to follow. My gown was exactly what I imagined."
Celebrating their love in front of 200 of their nearest and dearest at the Park Crest Event Facility in Hoover; their ceremony took place in The Gardens and reception followed at the facilities' Carriage House. Brooke notes, "it truly was a day filled with so much love. I'll never forget it. Ever."
