A seemingly coincidental meeting at Auburn University in the summer of 2013, would prove to be anything but coincidental. Although Sarah was not expecting to be "setup" with Benjamin Jospeh Holmes, he was there with the expectation of meeting her that night.
The two experienced an immediate, intense connection which proved to be well timed and set the stage that one day Sarah and Benjamin would be joined as husband and wife. Sarah expressed that she knew early on that there was something "very special about him."
Shortly after dating Ben, it became clear to Sarah the the two were "meant to be together." She "instantly" fell in love with his family which only strengthen her love for Ben even more. The values by which he was raised and exhibited in his life, made it clear to Sarah that she "wanted to experience every life milestone with him, the good and the bad."
Ben was able to express his love first but admittedly, Sarah does not recall the exact moment. However, she does recall the look on Ben's face and the spark in his eye as he uttered those words. It is clear that Ben's genuine spirit and "life of the party" demeanor are all endearing qualities that Sarah feels truly make Ben special.
"Ben can bring down the house at every karaoke bar with Usher's "Let It Burn". It is truly breathtakingly hilarious. He is truly the life of the party, bull in a china shop and any other fun cliches you can think", Sarah adds.
As their relationship grew and took shape, Sarah was aware that she and Ben were entering the stage of their lives were a proposal was the next step. With no real suspicion of when the moment would be, Sarah went on living her life and loving Ben here in Birmingham as Ben worked and lived in Greenville, South Carolina.
On a visit to see Sarah and enjoy a well-planned, fun-filled weekend, Ben set in motion one truly life-changing event. "We spent all of Saturday with my family by the pool and then we separated later that afternoon while I went to take photographs as a favor for my roommate. I packed my camera and my roommate took me to the overlook of downtown Birmingham as a backdrop. To my surprise, I walked up to my dearest friends from all over the U.S. (each) holding signs that said, "Sarah, will you marry me?" At the end, Sarah found Ben holding the "me" sign. In her best Kim K cry and emotionally overcomed, Sarah uttered "YES!" Ben managed to bring together family and friends to create a memorable moment and move one step closer to having Sarah as his better half, forever.
On a beautiful day, the 13th day of May 2017, Sarah and Ben held a dreamy, romantic and whimsical inspired wedding for 250 of their nearest and dearest family members and friends at The Haven. Sarah professes to being "extremely organized and slightly over opinionated" therefore only requiring a day of coordinator to assist with the wedding day going seamlessly.
In a full lace fit and flare silhouette gown designed by Allure Bridal with a long attached train, Sarah looked and felt amazing! "Everything felt effortlessly beautiful", Sarah admits. We agree!
Sarah reports, "other than walking down the aisle and saying our vows" the most memorable part of the wedding day included "Ben and I unexpectedly ended the reception with a dance off to Beyonce's, "Crazy in Love" and a balloon drop. It was dramatic, but so memorable."
These two spent some much needed rest and relaxation at an all inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico for their honeymoon where they enjoyed "a lot of food, drinks and sun." We like to think that their hearts remain in Birmingham, however, they currently reside in Greenville, South Carolina.
