Kristin and her friend were out for a late night snack in the Fall of 2005. Little did she know, her future husband, Matthew Stockton, was also out for a late night snack. The two college students crossed paths as Kristin was walking out of the store and Matt was walking in. Eye contact was made and Kristin "decided to be bold and wait out in the car to give him my phone number." Upon leaving the store, Kristin called Matt over and proceeded to give him her number.
After casually dating for nearly two years, Kristin and Matt became official in 2007. Starting their lives together as a couple and adding to their joy with the purchase of a Boxer puppy, Joc. Kristin and Matt moved to Birmingham following college to pursue their careers. They settled in together in 2008, enjoying the city of Birmingham.
Their lives were filled with exploring the restaurant scene in Birmingham, long walks and hikes with Joc, relaxing summer beach trips and fall football games in Tuscaloosa. However, Kristin became concerned after years of dating that a proposal might not come. On December 17, 2016, the wait and worry would end in the sweetest and most heartfelt way possible.
"Matt called me to tell me he and a friend took Joc to Railroad Park and he locked the keys in the car. He called me at 4:00 p.m. to say I needed to come down there and pick them up. I didn't end up getting to leave work until 6:00 p.m. So, I headed down to the park and when I pulled up he called to tell me to come into the park. I was tired from work I told him I really didn't want to. He said please just come in the park. So, I did and as I walked up he was sitting there with Joc who had on a bandana that read, "Will you marry Dad?" He got down on one knee and finally asked me!!"
The big day finally arrived, August 5, 2017. In the presence of 150 guests, Kristin Walters and Matthew Stockton were joined as husband and wife in what can best be described as a beautiful, chic Bohemian styled wedding at the Park Crest Event Facility in Hoover, Alabama.the weather was perfect and the day was all Kristin had dreamed it would be. "The best park of my wedding was having all our family together celebrating with us."
there are moments in life where we have to accept the bitter with the sweet. Matt lost his younger brother, Casey, four years ago. Not having Casey present for their day was tough. Casey passed away in December of 2013 and his girlfriend discovered she was expecting in January of 2014. Unfortunately, Casey never was able to meet his daughter. In his memory, she was given a starring role as the prettiest little flower girl EVER! Completing a near perfect day!
